The successful applicant for this position will be an integral part of a professional team responsible for various aspects of maintenance repair and preventive maintenance of all types of Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning systems and related controls.

Reporting to the Facility Supervisor, this position is responsible for the repair and preventative maintenance of all types of Hydronic and Steam heating systems as permitted by provincial legislation with a strong focus on Pneumatic controls and DDC field support for the Building Automation Team.
The successful candidate will work 40 hours per week falling between the hours of 6:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. consisting of an 8 hour work shift and with up to a one hour unpaid lunch period. Rate of pay is in accordance with the CAMA/OSSTF agreement, Tradesperson category, $ 67,368 to $72,466 per annum.
Responsibilities
Respond to daily heating and cooling emergency calls as directed
Liaise with School staff and other WRDSB team members
Provide support for cooling tower operations.
Service of various types of hydronic heating/cooling systems
Service and repair of various types of air handling and exhaust systems
Ability to carry out diagnostic service and repair of pneumatic control systems would be an asset
Ability to carry out recommissioning of pneumatic control systems would be an asset
Ability to carry out repairs to DDC systems as directed would be an asset
Other related duties as assigned
Qualifications
Must have one of the following designations:
o Facility System Mechanic
o Facility System Technician
o Building Environment Systems Operator, Class 1
o Stationary Engineer, 4th class certification
Must Minimum Grade 12 (OSSGD) is required or equivalent
Must be self-motivated and safety conscious, have excellent interpersonal and strong organizational skills, demonstrate good verbal and written communication skills and the ability to work with minimum supervision and work proactively in a team environment
Must have generous knowledge and experience with Pneumatic and Direct Digital Control (DDC)
systems. Experience with Distech and Schneider TAC Vista controls would be an asset.
Demonstrate strong computer Skills
Demonstrate operational knowledge and experience with steam and hydronic heating systems and ancillary equipment
Demonstrate operational knowledge and experience with Air handling systems and ancillary equipment
Demonstrate operational knowledge and experience with hydronic cooling systems including cooling towers and ancillary equipment.
Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of the Ontario Building Code, Ontario Fire Code, Occupational Health and Safety Act, WHMIS Regulations and Asbestos Containing Material regulations, transportation of Dangerous Goods (TDG) and safe handling of hazardous materials.
Demonstrate a minimum of 3 years related experience in service at a comparable work site
Demonstrate knowledge of preventative maintenance schedules for all types of heating equipment
Gas Technician 1 or 2 qualification would be an asset
A certified course in basic electronics would be an asset
An Electrical Technician/Technologist designation would be an asset
Valid Class ‘G’ Driver’s license with a clear and safe driving record is required. Board vehicle supplied upon signing of Vehicle use policy.
