We’re seeking an engaging and dynamic Host/Producer for The Briefing on LiSTNR to join our team on a 7-month parental leave contract.
The purpose of the Host/Producer is to construct news and other content for all news podcasts, news bulletins, and other shows as required. The aim is to create compelling news and information content for podcasts across all SCA platforms (including digital, video, and social), and then deliver it effectively. Additionally, the Host/Producer will take on the role of podcast host, guiding the content and engaging with the audience to ensure a dynamic and informative listening experience. This role is also required to work shift work including early and unsociable hours.
What you’ll be doing:
Source, research, write, edit, and deliver news and interview content for SCA’s digital audio products and broadcast stations that appeals to the target audience.
Pitch original story ideas in line with show brief and audience.
Book and brief talent for interviews.
Maintain and develop contacts and news sources and ensure news room file is up to date.
Identify the freshest news angles, chase stories, follow up leads, book guests and perform on-road reporting if required.
Experience we’re looking for:
A degree qualification in journalism, communications or media is desirable.
Have the ability to convey information by adopting a range of styles, tools and techniques appropriate to the audience and the nature of the information.
Demonstrated experience in working with teams and acting on editorial requests from senior journalists/editors.
Proven experience in working to deadlines, preferably in the early hours of the morning.
Experience in researching and writing radio/podcast scripts.
Previous experience in booking guests and producing research documents.
Experience generating original story and content ideas that speak to a target audience.
Have a thorough understanding of program technology, studios, visualization techniques and SCA’s social media platforms
