We are a family-owned business looking to appoint HR and Business Support Assistant to join our growing team in Birmingham. This office-based role will aid smooth and efficient day-to-day operations and provide generalist HR support to our colleagues and management team.

You will be joining a team of passionate and highly engaged professionals, and you will have an opportunity to work on some exciting projects.

Supported by a reputable consultancy, you will play a central role in every stage of the employee journey, from onboarding to offboarding and everything in between. This role will best suit someone with existing HR experience gained in logistics, manufacturing or engineering environments. It requires adaptability and proactive engagement to support various business needs as they arise in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.

The role is being advertised as full-time but we also welcome candidates looking for a part-time position.

Full Time Equivalent Salary - £26,000 - £28000 per annum

Key objectives and responsibilities:

Serve as the first point of contact for employees and managers for all HR guidance, policy clarification, and day-to-day people operations/HR support;
Work with managers and dedicated HR consultancy ensuring ongoing compliance with employment law;
Advise, support and guide managers in investigations, performance management, absence management, conduct related disciplinaries, appeals and all family friendly procedures (maternity, paternity, parental leave, flexible working);
Ensure HR Management database is kept up to date and organised with all personnel files and is compliant with GDPR;
Update and maintain the HR Information Systems (Atlas) acting as super user and liaising with HRIS customer support wherever necessary;
Provide advice and assistance on policies, procedures and legislation;
Ensure that all administration is carried out in a timely, effectively and accurately;
Support internal stakeholders with payroll and talent acquisition related activities if required;
Implement new processes to improve our HR and team support practices;
Support managers with onboardings including all associated administrative tasks, right to work checks, contract creation and onboarding days;
Conduct the offboarding process where necessary including exit interviews, retention discussions and all associated administrative tasks;
Ensure compliance with UK and EU data regulations for all personnel processes;
Support and lead on projects as required;
Provide comprehensive administration support in HR and other business processes.
Desirable Experience, Skills and Attributes:

You will be a self-starter, with a proactive approach to tasks and the ability to work independently and as part of a team;
A positive, can-do, hands-on attitude -you must be willing to help with a range of tasks, some of which may be repetitive and unglamorous, and some of which may be unrelated to your core tasks;
Knowledge and understanding of best practice and current legislation;
Previous HR experience gained within logistics, manufacturing or engineering is an advantage;
Ability to work under pressure and to tight deadlines;
Confidential and professional approach, able to handle sensitive information with discretion;
Excellent people-skills - the ability to communicate, influence, build alliances, network and work well in a team;
Initiative, problem-solving ability, and a pragmatic approach;
Be highly organised, detail-oriented, and capable of managing a dynamic workload;
Based in the Midlands area and able to commit to an office-based role;
Ability to self-manage and prioritise workload - a very strong work ethic and self-motivation; a sense of ownership and responsibility to drive outcomes;
Experience in successfully creating and managing processes in a growing company environment;
BA in HRM or related discipline or CIPD qualified;
Health & Safety Trained (IOSH);
First Aid trained.
