HVAC Technician

Matrix Mechanical is hiring a Red Seal HVAC Technician to lead from the field.

We’re looking for an experienced, licensed HVAC Technician who’s confident leading installations, solving complex problems, and coaching others on the job. This role is hands-on and field-based — focused on service and retrofit work across residential and light commercial projects in the Saint John area.

You’ll be a key part of our install and service team, often taking the lead on jobsites, guiding apprentices, and ensuring work is done safely, cleanly, and to a high standard. What the Role Looks Like

You’ll be leading and working alongside HVAC installers and apprentices in the field. Your day-to-day will include:

Taking the lead on job sites — from layout and setup to system startup
Diagnosing and repairing HVAC systems including heat pumps and RTUs
Coaching apprentices and junior techs in installation, troubleshooting, and best practices
Flagging training needs and sharing field feedback with the Service GM
Ensuring installations meet code, pass inspection, and exceed customer expectations
Supporting coordination with office staff using ServiceTitan and mobile tools
Upholding safety protocols and maintaining a professional job site
What We’re Looking For

Licensed Red Seal HVAC Technician (Refrigeration & Air Conditioning Mechanic)
At least 5 years of field experience with a strong foundation in service and retrofit work
Proven ability to lead by example, coach others, and communicate clearly
Skilled in diagnosing issues, recommending solutions, and managing job flow
Comfortable with ductless and ducted systems and rooftop units — any familiarity with gas-fired equipment is a bonus, but not required
Gas or oil license is an asset only if you already hold one — this is not a requirement for the role
Strong attention to detail and pride in workmanship
Tech-savvy enough to use a smartphone or tablet for job tracking and communication
Valid driver’s license with a clean abstract
Respectful, team-first attitude — someone others naturally turn to for help or clarity
