Below is a detailed job description for a community transport driver: Job Title: Community Transport Driver Key Responsibilities: 1. *Transportation Services*: - Drive community transport vehicles to transport passengers to various destinations, including medical appointments, social activities, shopping centers, and community events. - Ensure the vehicle is operated safely and in accordance with traffic laws and company policies. - Assist passengers in boarding and alighting the vehicle, including those who use wheelchairs or other mobility aids. 2. *Vehicle Maintenance*: - Perform routine checks on the vehicle to ensure it is in good working condition, including checking oil, fuel, tire pressure, and lights. - Report any mechanical issues or maintenance needs to the appropriate personnel promptly. - Keep the vehicle clean and presentable at all times. 3. *Passenger Assistance*: - Provide courteous and professional assistance to passengers, ensuring their comfort and safety during the journey. - Assist passengers with securing seat belts and ensuring that wheelchairs and other mobility aids are properly secured. - Handle any special needs or requests from passengers with patience and empathy. 4. *Scheduling and Coordination*: - Follow scheduled routes and timetables, ensuring timely pick-up and drop-off of passengers. - Communicate effectively with dispatchers, coordinators, and other staff to report any delays, route changes, or incidents. - Adjust schedules as needed to accommodate last-minute changes or emergencies. 5. *Record Keeping and Reporting*: - Maintain accurate records of trips, including mileage, passenger numbers, destinations, and any incidents or observations. - Complete daily logs, vehicle inspection reports, and other required documentation. - Report any accidents or incidents to the appropriate authorities and follow company protocols.
