Responsibilities
This position will be hybrid after training and will support attorneys in the preparation and filing of legal documents, particularly in patent and intellectual property matters
Prepare, proofread, and file legal documents related to patents, trademarks, and other intellectual property matters
Manage and track filing deadlines for USPTO, international, and client requirements
Conduct research and gather relevant information to support patent and trademark applications
Maintain and organize case files, including docketing critical deadlines and correspondence
Communicate with clients, foreign associates, and government agencies regarding filings and case statuses
Assist attorneys in preparing and filing applications, amendments, and other legal correspondence
Handle confidential information with professionalism and discretion
Support administrative tasks, including billing, time entry, and case management

Role Description

Boyle Fredrickson is seeking a full-time Intellectual Property Legal Assistant to join our team in Milwaukee, WI. This position will be hybrid after training and will support attorneys in the preparation and filing of legal documents, particularly in patent and intellectual property matters. The ideal candidate will have strong organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently.

Essential Job Duties
• Prepare, proofread, and file legal documents related to patents, trademarks, and other intellectual property matters
• Manage and track filing deadlines for USPTO, international, and client requirements
• Conduct research and gather relevant information to support patent and trademark applications
• Maintain and organize case files, including docketing critical deadlines and correspondence
• Communicate with clients, foreign associates, and government agencies regarding filings and case statuses
• Assist attorneys in preparing and filing applications, amendments, and other legal correspondence
• Handle confidential information with professionalism and discretion
• Support administrative tasks, including billing, time entry, and case management

Qualifications
• Prior experience as a legal assistant, paralegal, or in an IP-related role preferred
• Knowledge of U.S. Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) and international patent/trademark filing processes is a plus
• Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
• Ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook)
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team
• Must be able to handle confidential and sensitive information with discretion
• Associate's degree, paralegal certification, or equivalent experience preferred
• Must be able to commute to the Milwaukee office
