Job Description:
POSITION SUMMARY: Under the general supervision of the Manager Internal Audit, performs project research and consulting assignments in order to improve the overall efficiency and effectiveness of the Corporation.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:
Conducts operational reviews and feasibility studies in consultation with divisional and departmental managers and outside agencies.
Provides assistance with Corporate performance measurement and business planning activities.
Conducts research studies, analysis, benchmarking and complies results.
Compiles research and prepares reports, background material and briefing notes.
Tracks project decisions, related reports and activities which impact the project, and provides advice and analysis on their implications.
Collaborates with multidiscipline teams on project delivery.
Prepares and monitors the budget for projects, ensuring budget compliance.
Establishes and maintains project working relationships and consults with other staff and departments, consultants, developers, suppliers, contractors, utilities, government agencies, other infrastructure owner/operators, and the general public, as necessary.
Assists with the evaluation and testing of the Corporation’s systems of internal control.
Evaluates and monitors compliance with established policies, plans and procedures of the Corporation.
Assists with the preparation of divisional and departmental budget submissions.
Performs other related duties as may be required.
QUALIFICATIONS:

Education/Experience:

Degree in business or public administration along with one to three years’ experience in organizational development, public administration, planning, research or consulting

Skills/Abilities:

Superior ability to communicate effectively and concisely, both orally and in writing
Ability to work well under pressure and deadlines in a fast-paced environment
Ability to deliver presentations to a variety of audiences and to skillfully handle on-the-spot questions from senior officials, members of City Council, special interest groups, and the media
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with members of City Council, private and public officials, co-workers, contractors, consultants, developers, suppliers, utilities and the general public
Ability to interpret and apply relevant legislation, regulations, and guidelines
Excellent project/time management, analytical/critical thinking, problem-solving, and decision-making skills
Political acumen and the ability to establish and maintain effective working relations
Must be at an advanced skill level in word processing, spreadsheet, database, and presentation software
Must be competent within the meaning of the Occupational Health and Safety Act
CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:
Must undergo a successful Criminal Record and Judicial Matters Check (CRJMC)
May be required to work and attend meetings outside regular working hours
May be required to travel to various work locations and provide own transportation
