Detailed Overview:
Performs various electroneurophysiological tests including EEG tests, and Evoked Potential Studies and evaluates test results and provides test information for interpretation by the medical staff. Responsible for the daily operation of the service which includes supply and equipment maintenance, maintenance of procedure manual and workload measurement.
Responsibilities:
Conducts and records EEG and Evoked Potentials on patients by performing duties such as operating a variety of digital equipment, calibrating and adjusting equipment during test processes and taking appropriate measurements from test data produced in order to demonstrate whether abnormalities exist.
Formulates technical preliminary reports by performing duties such as analyzing recordings, measuring numerical data, describing abnormal manifestations and forwarding calculations to the Supervisor Electroencephalographer for diagnosis.
Prepares for test by performing duties such as receiving requisitions from physicians, reviewing case history, and assessing the nature of the problems to determine test approach. Prepares patient for test by receiving and interviewing patient or family, explaining procedure, attaching electrodes to appropriate areas and monitoring patient's comfort to ensure patient is at ease while obtaining required results.
Performs preventative maintenance on equipment by performing duties such as calibrating and cleaning equipment to ensure equipment is producing accurate records; maintains service and equipment service records by completing log books and arranging repairs to ensure equipment is working.
Maintains records by storing files and retrieving from archives for future reference. Prepares period-end statistics and other statistical analyses as required.
Maintains adequate inventory of supplies and equipment. Provides input into capital equipment acquisitions and budget information.
Maintains and updates procedure manual for the service.
Performs other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Education and Experience

Graduation from a recognized program in Electroneurophysiology Technology plus one year's recent, related experience or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
Eligible for registration with the Canadian Board of Registration of Electroneurophysiology Technologists (CBRET) and/or the Board of Registered Electromyography Technologists of Canada (BRETC).
