Job Description
We are a national entity providing essential transcription services to the justice system in New Zealand. Our unique perspective on the justice system allows us to make a difference in the lives of Kiwis.
As part of our team, you will have the opportunity to work from your home or one of our Ministry of Justice sites, depending on your preference and needs. Please note that we also offer hybrid arrangements for those who want the flexibility of both options.
About the Role
In this demanding yet rewarding role, you will be responsible for transcribing various court and other cases in a fast-paced environment. You will be working as part of a national network, collaborating with colleagues across the country to provide accurate transcripts.
There are two main types of core work: evidential transcription and non-evidential transcription. Evidential transcription involves transcribing live court proceedings, often requiring a quick turnaround, while non-evidential transcription includes tasks such as bails, sentencing notes, and oral judgments.
You will have the opportunity to work with a range of cases, including Criminal, Family, Civil, Environment, Coronial, and Employment hearings. Additionally, you may be involved in te reo transcription services, which will require you to improve your Te Reo Maori skills.
Your Skills and Experience
A high standard of written English, including comprehension, vocabulary, punctuation, spelling, and grammar.
An accurate audio-typing base speed of 70+ words per minute (wpm), with the expectation of increasing with training in smart transcription tools.
Fully competent in a Windows-based environment, particularly MS Word, with the ability to learn new systems and navigate multiple applications.
Composure under pressure, adaptability, and the ability to self-manage safely in an often-changeable environment.
The ability to understand and apply legal protocols and court procedures.
Excellent customer-focused decision-making skills.
Benefits
Flexible working hours between 7:30 am and 7:00 pm, with core live transcription hours of 10:00 am to 5:00 pm (minus a 30-60 minute lunch break).
The ability to accrue extra hours worked and use them at a later date.
4.4 weeks of paid annual leave, increasing to five weeks after five years' employment.
A supplementary week of long service leave once every five years.
Reimbursement for the cost of a hearing or eye test every two years.
Reimbursement of up to $100 for medical visits once a year.
Actual and reasonable sick and domestic leave from employment commencement.
An Employee Assistance Programme providing confidential and free counseling services.
About Our Team
We are committed to creating a continuous learning environment where you can bring your thirst for knowledge and improvement. As part of our team, you will have an individual training plan and be supported to excel in your role.
We value diversity and welcome people of all backgrounds, ages, ethnicities, ****** orientations, disabilities, and religions to join our organization.
