The Planning Engineer II leverages approved technologies and architectures to meet specific requirements for expanding and supporting new services at Lumen
Plan Development: Prepare plans and specifications, including gathering field data
Resource Utilization: Ensure the use of the most feasible, practical, and economical means to complete work
Provide cost data to support capital planning and budgeting
Long Haul DWDM Systems: Plan and/or engineer Long Haul DWDM systems
Develop and define plans for new Long Haul DWDM route builds
Network Analysis: Analyze Long Haul DWDM network systems, including planning, designing, evaluating, and determining customer trend data to augment trended headroom capacity
Project Coordination: Coordinate projects focused on augmenting or overbuilding Long Haul DWDM networks
Communicate project scope and ensure program milestones and objectives are met
Identify and resolve issues, either by altering plans or escalating as needed
Cross-Functional Activities: Organize cross-functional activities to ensure project completion within budget and timelines
Provide reporting and metrics from multiple systems and databases
Technical Expertise: Utilize specific technical knowledge to research, plan, communicate, and achieve objectives through the program/project team

The Role

The Planning Engineer II leverages approved technologies and architectures to meet specific requirements for expanding and supporting new services at Lumen.

Location

This is a work from home position within the U.S.

The Main Responsibilities
• Plan Development: Prepare plans and specifications, including gathering field data.
• Resource Utilization: Ensure the use of the most feasible, practical, and economical means to complete work. Provide cost data to support capital planning and budgeting.
• Long Haul DWDM Systems: Plan and/or engineer Long Haul DWDM systems. Develop and define plans for new Long Haul DWDM route builds.
• Network Analysis: Analyze Long Haul DWDM network systems, including planning, designing, evaluating, and determining customer trend data to augment trended headroom capacity.

What We Look For in a Candidate

Required Qualifications:
• 5+ years of experience in a similar role or 3+ years of experience and a Bachelor's degree.

Preferred Qualifications:
• Previous technical experience, particularly with Long Haul or Metro DWDM platforms.
• Experience with SQL or Power BI.

Compensation

This information reflects the anticipated base salary range for this position based on current national data. Minimums and maximums may vary based on location. Individual pay is based on skills, experience and other relevant factors.
