Job Description

Upgrade and optimize our core MySQL, PostgreSQL, and Elastic clusters.
Implement best practice database administration: provisioning, monitoring, cloning, replication, backups, upgrades, availability, performance monitoring, trouble shooting, recovery, archiving, tuning, query optimisation, upgrade management.
Provide developer support, user education, and provision of various development and data-oriented services.
Work on platform architecture, project-based work, strategy development, technology research.
Required Skills and Qualifications

Experience in data engineering, big data, and database administration.
Knowledge of RDBMS administration: MariaDB, MySQL, and PostgreSQL with exposure to large datasets in HA environments.
Familiarity with Elasticsearch, Kafka or similar adjunct data systems.
Infrastructure automation using Puppet (preferred), Ansible, Terraform or similar orchestration tools.
Proficiency in a common scripting language (Python preferred - Ruby, Go, and NodeJS acceptable).
Monitoring systems such as Sensu.
Strong problem-solving skills and excellent verbal and written communication skills.
