Job Description
POSITION TITLE: Plant Manager
DEPARTMENT: Manufacturing
REPORTS TO: Senior Vice President of Operations
DIRECT REPORTS: Area Managers, Production Control, Shipping & Maintenance
POSITION SUMMARY: Responsible for managing the manufacturing, maintenance, production planning and shipping functions.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Responsible for maintaining a safe working environment and assures that all employees observe and adhere to safety procedures and good safety practices.
• Maintains a high standard for employee safety and housekeeping on the plant floor.
• Contributes to customer satisfaction by assuring that vendor delivery schedules are maintained and manufactured to customer specifications.
• Directs and is responsible for the overall manufacturing operation.
• Responsible for maintaining the production efficiency and material utilization at standard rate or better.
• Maintains focus on the goals targeted by management at all levels within the department.
• Develops and implements manufacturing staffing plans based upon scheduled and projected production requirements.
• Organizes work areas to promote efficient and effective manufacturing processes.
• Recommends training needed for all manufacturing and materials employees.
• Administers discipline where required as outlined in employee handbook.
• Recommends hourly rates and pay scales for manufacturing employees.
• Assist in process development and launch of new products and programs.
• Implements continuous improvement programs for manufacturing.
• Directly interfaces with customers on a periodic or as-needed basis.
• Periodically selects and participates in continuing education sessions.
· Enables employees to have the tools necessary to do the job required.
· Comply with the Quality Policy and Quality system procedures and standards.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
• College degree or continuing education studies desirable with an emphasis in Engineering, Manufacturing and/or Management.
• 5 years supervisory management experience with bottom line responsibility.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
• An attitude and personality that promotes teamwork.
• Strong communications, leadership and motivational skills.
• Experience in developing and working with forecasts, department budgets, and capital planning.
· Mechanical aptitude and an understanding of manufacturing and metal working processes.
ENVIRONMENTAL MANAGEMENT RESPONSIBILITIES:
· Conform to all Wayne Metals, LLC environmental policies, programs and procedures.
· Conform to all State of Indiana laws and regulations
· Report any environmental concerns to supervisor, Environmental Management Representative, or the Plant manager.
· Work with the EMR and other staff to reduce pollution
· Ensure continuous improvement in the operation
· Motivate train and inform Wayne Metals employees regarding the EMS
· Recommend strategic directions for the EMS
• · Sustain Wayne Metals environmental protection policy
