The Market System
The market system is a modernized Java/Spring Boot application handling New Zealand's electricity market complexities.
It determines spot prices, balances real-time supply and demand for system stability, managing inputs like generation offers, demand forecasts, and system constraints.
This role contributes to business-led technical improvements and life-cycle refresh projects, balancing strategic objectives and necessary technical upgrades.
About You
As a highly experienced Software Engineer, you'll find this role stimulating.
You will naturally think broadly, seeking to understand how your work contributes to Transpower's wider systems and strategic direction.
To be considered, your CV and cover letter should demonstrate:
Experience delivering complex domain business solutions with a passion for software delivery and quality.
An innate desire to learn and understand the domain you are working within.
5+ years of analysis, design, and programming experience, including large-scale application integration within complex business delivery.
In-depth knowledge of a broad range of hardware and software products.
Skills at a senior level across languages/frameworks: Spring Boot/Java, RESTful web services, JSON, distributed services architecture, open-source frameworks, Maven/Gradle, Oracle Ideal, OpenShift, Linux (RHEL).
