The Grant Writer will play a critical role in securing funding to support our mission and expand the reach of our programs and services. This role requires a combination of research, writing, and strategic thinking to identify and apply for grants from various government, private, and corporate sources. The ideal candidate will have experience in grant writing, a strong understanding of the nonprofit sector, and a deep commitment to supporting immigrants and refugees.

Key Responsibilities

Grant Research:
• Identify potential grant opportunities from local, provincial, and federal governments and private foundations, corporations, and other funding bodies.

Grant Writing:
• Write clear, compelling, and accurate grant proposals that align with the organization's mission, goals, and priorities.
• Develop budgets, timelines, and project plans to accompany proposals, ensuring all required documentation is submitted on time.
• Tailor each proposal to meet the specific requirements and priorities of the funding organization, while maintaining consistency with We Hold Hands Manitoba’s vision and objectives.

Relationship Management:
• Establish and maintain relationships with funders, ensuring effective communication and stewardship.
• Prepare progress reports and ensure ongoing engagement with funders as required by grant agreements.

Documentation & Reporting:
• Maintain an organized system for tracking grant deadlines, submissions, and outcomes.
• Provide regular updates to senior leadership on the status of grant applications and fundraising efforts.

Qualifications
• Bachelor's degree preferred in communications, nonprofit management, or a related field (or equivalent work experience).
• Some experience in grant writing or fundraising within the nonprofit sector.
• Experience working with immigration, refugee, or settlement-focused organizations is highly desirable.
• Strong writing, editing, and communication skills, with the ability to convey complex ideas in a clear, compelling, and persuasive manner.
• Excellent research skills, with the ability to identify funding opportunities and tailor proposals to fit the needs of different funders.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and Google Suite. Familiarity with grant management software is an asset.
• Ability to work independently as well as part of a collaborative team.

Why Join Us?
• Be part of a dynamic, passionate team dedicated to making a difference in the lives of immigrants and refugees in Manitoba.
• Opportunity to contribute to meaningful programs and initiatives that have a lasting impact on the community.
• Competitive salary and benefits package (dependent on experience).
• Flexible work arrangements (remote or hybrid options).
• Professional development opportunities.
