Busy state government department seeking a Senior Technical Support Specialist for a long-term engagement

Your new company

Hays has partnered with a busy state government department to appoint an experienced Senior Technical Specialist to a long-term contract until September 2026.

Your new role

As the Senior Technical Specialist, you will provide high-level technical expertise in the implementation, maintenance and support of computer systems and data communication services within SEQ Water. You will lead the:
• Development, implementation, and review of continuous improvement projects for Managed Operating Environments, including Windows client OS as well as Windows Server OS, maintaining virtual desktop images in both Citrix Virtual Desktops and Apps, and MS Azure
• Regular system maintenance for our clients' Active Directory Domain Services across multiple Windows Server forests
• Development, implementation, and review of continuous improvement projects for the monitoring systems, including SolarWinds, as well as managing and maintaining the current SIEM system (Splunk)

What you'll need to succeed

You will be an experienced Systems Engineer, with at least 5 years of demonstrated success in a senior technical role within complex enterprise environments. You will possess in-depth knowledge of:
• Server administration (Windows)
• Network administration (knowledge of Cisco networking)
• System administration (ADDS, MS Certificate Services, Vmware and HyperV, Exchange, ECM, Citrix)
• Cloud services (IaC, IaaS, PaaS, SaaS, Hosting - Azure/AWS)
• Monitoring systems and SIEM (Solarwinds, Splunk/Sentinel)

Knowledge of MS Endpoint Manager/InTune utilising Operating System Deployment, Application Deployment, and Autopilot will be highly regarded, as will relevant tertiary qualifications and industry certifications.

Some travel to sites will be required, so an open driving licence is a necessity.

What you'll get in return

You'll be offered a long-term contract, with a start as soon as feasible and an end-date in September 2026 (with a chance of extension beyond that). You'll enjoy a hybrid working arrangement, with 2 days a week required onsite at either our client's Ipswich or Brisbane office. You'll also be remunerated at an hourly rate of up to $12+.6+/hour incl super and paid in weekly cycles with no agency fees.
