Job Description

Leading Our Work Programmes
We lead key work programmes, including the Waitangi Tribunal's Health Services and Outcomes Inquiry (Wai 2575) and other kaupapa inquiries across government.

Your Key Responsibilities
Provide expert policy advice on kaupapa inquiries, including the Waitangi Tribunal's Health Services and Outcomes Inquiry (Wai 2575) and related government processes.
Support evidence preparation for inquiries and legal proceedings, working collaboratively across the Ministry, public sector agencies, and Crown Law.
Apply Te Tiriti o Waitangi principles to ensure policy and advice reflect commitments to Maori health equity and Treaty obligations.
Monitor risks, progress, and outcomes for kaupapa inquiries, ensuring high-quality reporting and strategic issue management.
Build strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders, fostering collaboration across the health sector, government, and Maori communities.

About You
You'll bring knowledge and experience in tribunal inquiries, treaty settlement relationships, treaty partnerships, or a relevant field
You'll have understanding of Maori relationship dynamics, experience building and maintaining highly effective relationships with whanau, hapu, iwi and Maori communities and entities, within the Ministry's Te Tiriti framework for the health and disability system
You'll have previous experience working in central government and a thorough understanding of the machinery of Government
You'll be able to operate in Te Ao Maori contexts, including understanding of tikanga, kawa and te reo Maori
You'll hold a tertiary qualification in a health or relevant field or equivalent experience and significant stakeholder, iwi and Maori relations experience
