Job Description

Job Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled Clinical Nurse Specialist to coordinate our Fracture Liaison Service, which aims to reduce the incidence of future injuries by offering assessment, education, and interventions to individuals over 50 years old who experience low-impact fragility fractures.

The successful candidate will have extensive knowledge and experience in bone health and a strong commitment to the health and well-being of older people. This is a fixed-term role, supporting our current CNS who is taking parental leave.

About the Role

This is a non-prescribing role that requires the ability to work autonomously, with a high degree of clinical expertise and excellent interpersonal and networking skills. The successful candidate will be comfortable working in inpatient wards, gathering information from patients over the phone, and making recommendations to support inpatient teams in their treatment of bone health.

Key Responsibilities

Assisting with the identification of individuals for further assessment and completing bone health and falls risk assessments.
Completing follow-up tasks, ordering investigations, and formulating long-term treatment plans for bone health.
Offering preventative education and referring to prescribing clinicians for the initiation of treatment, as indicated.
Maintaining relationships with Primary Health and Community-based falls prevention services.
Requirements

The ideal candidate will be a CNS practising at an advanced level, with in-depth knowledge and experience of bone health. They will be able to help establish and embed best practice FLS, achieving International Osteoporosis Foundation (IOF) accreditation.
