Job Title: Animal Care Technician (Animal Colony Management)
FLSA Status: Non-Exempt hourly
Full/Part-Time: Part-Time, 20 hours/week, 3 days/week
Regular/Temporary: Temporary
We are seeking a highly skilled Animal Care Technician to join our Lab Operations team.
The ideal candidate will have experience in animal care and surgical support, with a strong passion for working with animals.
This is a temporary part-time position, working 20 hours a week over 3 days.
Key Responsibilities:
Perform breeding activities including mating mice, time mating, plug check, and weaning litters.
Update colony inventory and health observations using applicable software.
Report health concerns to the attending veterinarian and vivarium team.
Assist in breeding-related genotyping assays.
Maintain and organize genotyping reagents, equipment, and laboratory supplies.
Perform other related tasks as required.
Requirements:
General knowledge of feeding, caging, and space requirements for multiple species of laboratory animals.
Industry experience preferred.
Ability to work independently and as a team member.
Working knowledge of MS Office (Word, Excel).
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Prior experience at start-up companies a plus.
Education and Experience:
High school diploma or equivalent; Associate degree in Animal Science or related area preferred.
2+ years of relevant rodent experience in research animal science or husbandry.
