Grounds Maintenance Technician

About the Position
The Gardening Specialist is responsible for performing a variety of tasks related to the care and maintenance of landscaped areas on campus. This includes irrigation repair and maintenance, pest and weed control, tree maintenance, athletic turf maintenance, and maintenance of gardening power equipment. The successful candidate will have a strong background in horticulture and be able to work independently and as part of a team.

Responsibilities
- Perform routine maintenance and repairs on irrigation systems, including automatic controllers and zone systems
- Operate and maintain various pieces of equipment, including power mowers and tractors
- Provide guidance and assistance to others regarding proper care of plants and maintenance techniques
- Collaborate with colleagues to develop and implement landscape plans and designs

Requirements
- 2 years of experience in landscaping or a related field
- Valid pesticide application license
- Ability to lift and carry heavy equipment up to 50 pounds
