Job Description

Staff Software Engineer - API Leadership
As a Staff Software Engineer, you'll lead teams, drive technical excellence, and deliver robust solutions in a dynamic environment. With expertise in full-stack technologies and matrix structures, you'll guide projects, ensure best practices, and align with strategic goals. You'll make impactful decisions, embrace agile methodologies, and mentor teams with clarity and vision.

Responsibilities:
Guide engineering teams and stakeholders by providing technical direction, ensuring the successful implementation of technology across Agile Tribes and Squads.
Play a key role in strategic planning and decision-making, influencing the future trajectory of the consumer technology stack.
Oversee engineering governance and conduct solution/code reviews to ensure adherence to best practices.
Collaborate with various Optus Technology stacks, building strong relationships with squad members, cross-domain peers, and external vendors/third parties.
Lead the planning, design, and development of complex projects, engaging in the full software development lifecycle from analysis and design to implementation, testing, and deployment.
Work with our security teams on risk assessments and vulnerability testing.
Ensure technical solutions comply with company, regulatory, and security policies and guidelines.
Participate in selecting tools and technologies, evaluating and creating proof-of-concept models for new technologies and alternative approaches.
Experience:
Proven experience in web application and/or full-stack development.
Extensive hands-on experience in designing and architecting web applications, microservices, and infrastructure.
Effective communicator with the ability to convey complex technical concepts clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences.
In-depth hands-on and practical experience in development, solution design, and architecture within the digital domain, demonstrating a successful record of end-to-end project delivery.
Thorough knowledge of IT risk assessment principles and risk management practices, coupled with a keen awareness of information security and data privacy standards.
Experienced in automation and building CI/CD pipelines.
Familiar with DevOps practices, including alerting and monitoring tools.
Exceptional abilities in analytical thinking, creativity, problem-solving, and critical analysis.
Comprehensive knowledge of Spring Framework.
Practical experience with AWS infrastructure or other cloud platforms (such as Azure or GCP), along with proficiency in Docker and Kotlin.
Work Environment:
3 days in the office, 2 days remote – with flexible hours to suit
