Job Description

STERIS offers a variety of repair solutions to meet the needs of our Customers including onsite mobile repair services, in-house repair lab services, or one of five national repair centers. We are seeking a skilled Surgical Instrument Technician to join our team in this role. In this position, you will perform surgical instrument inspection, repair, and refurbishment in a field-based setting. Technicians work out of mobile repair trucks at Customer sites and regional labs in more condensed markets. Technicians deliver superior Customer Experience by providing timely and quality repairs to meet compliance standards.

This position requires daily travel by driving a company vehicle. If offered this position, STERIS will run a 7-year driving record check, as part of our onboarding process. This role requires occasional overnight travel. To support and service our customers in this assigned territory, candidates must be based out of Washington. The primary location for this position will be our repair lab in Seattle (Georgetown), but will also float to assist on mobile repair trucks within the area as needed. When working on one of the repair trucks, the technician will need to commute to one of these 3 locations in order to meet colleagues at the truck in the morning: Auburn, Tacoma, or Puyallup.

What You Will Do as a Surgical Instrument Technician

Perform basic to intermediate inspection and repairs on surgical instrumentation using grinding wheels, buffing wheels, various hand and power tools, soldering, etc. Complexity of repairs and level of intricacy will vary. You will work in the field on a mobile repair truck, inside a repair lab or inside a hospital, based on the needs of the Customer within the assigned territory. Provide invoicing and documentation based on business need and provide support to various locations within the assigned territory depending on service agreements, Customer needs, and staffing levels.

Provide accurate and detailed documentation of repairs performed, maintain accurate records of time spent on each job and submit reports as required. Work effectively with minimal supervision and handle confidential information with discretion. Perform other duties as assigned by management.
