What You'll Be Doing:

Reporting to the Regional Facilities Manager/Director, the Carpet Technician is responsible for maintaining the cleanliness of common area carpets across Equity Residential apartment communities in the market. Their primary accountability lies in ensuring the company meets its commitment to residents by providing exceptional customer experiences and maintaining clean and fresh communities. In addition to carpet maintenance, the Carpet Technician may support other maintenance tasks as required, such as grout cleaning or emergency water extraction, or other need support. Their role is pivotal in upholding Equity Residential's brand promise through delivering top-notch customer service and consistently demonstrating professionalism.



Follows a daily and weekly schedule of assigned work, and accurately updates and closes out work tasks in the service mobility software each day.
Maintains the physical condition of the common area carpet across the market. Is able to effectively shampoo, pre-condition, perform spot treatment, and make minor repairs to carpeting.
Drives a company supplied vehicle within designated work hours for work purposes only.
Maintains a clean working environment, being aware of surroundings and safety of all related tools, chemicals, and equipment.
Is responsible for keeping the company vehicle and equipment clean, maintained, and in good working order, reporting any issues to their manager as soon as they are identified.
Maintains proper inventory of chemicals and other essential supplies
Assists other service staff members with various projects as needed, and directed by the Regional Facilities team.


What You'll Need to Thrive:

Basic understanding of mechanical and electrical systems desired
Hands-on carpet cleaning and maintenance experience preferred.
Working knowledge of federal and state apartment housing laws.
A valid driver's license, good driving record, auto insurance, and reliable transportation is required if the employee will operate a motorized vehicle (e.g., car, golf cart) during their workday and/or as part of their role.
Computer literacy and effective communication skills: Must be able to effectively communicate both orally and in writing in English for all work-related purposes.
Ability to perform numerous physical activities that require considerable use of your hands, arms, and legs and moving your whole body, including prolonged or repeated standing, walking, climbing, sweeping, stooping, kneeling, shoveling, crouching, lifting, and handling materials. Frequent lifting, grasping and carrying materials and equipment up to 50 lbs.
Availability to work a flexible schedule, including weekends; Service team employees participate in an emergency on-call rotation
Office and Service team employees, with limited exceptions, are required to use their own smartphone to perform certain aspects of their job. The device must have updated software and must be password-protected and compliant with in-house security systems and operations software.
