Job Description
We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Senior Accountant to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of accounting principles, excellent analytical skills, self-starter and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment. This role is responsible for ensuring the integrity of accounting information by recording, verifying, consolidating, and entering transactions, as well as managing our cash flow and supporting month-end and year-end close processes.
Key Responsibilities:
Manage and oversee the daily operations of the accounting function.
Prepare accurate and timely financial statements and reports.
Reconcile bank accounts, general ledger accounts, and intercompany transactions.
Ensure that A/R is received in a timely manner and A/P is paid per our terms with our suppliers.
Produce financial KPIs on a weekly and monthly basis.
Assist the leadership team in managing our cash flow and providing cash flow forecasting as needed.
Ensure compliance with GAAP, IFRS, and company policies.
Review and post journal entries and accruals in timely manner.
Support audits (internal and external) by providing required documentation and explanations.
Prepare and file tax returns, including sales tax, property tax, and corporate income tax as applicable.
Analyze financial data and provide insights and recommendations to the leadership team.
Assist in the development and implementation of accounting procedures and internal controls where non-exist or improve existing procedures and controls.
Collaborate with other departments to support overall company goals and objectives. This may include supporting procurement, forecasting and importation activities.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (CPA or CPA candidate preferred).
4+ years of progressive accounting experience.
Strong knowledge of IFRS, financial reporting, and general ledger accounting.
Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, NetSuite, SAP, or similar).
Advanced Excel skills (VLOOKUP, pivot tables, etc.).
Strong attention to detail, problem-solving skills, and analytical thinking.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Preferred Qualifications:
CPA designation (or in progress).
Experience with ERP systems.
Industry experience in a distribution business is nice to have.
