Product Owner - Treasury

Group Treasury, as part of Financial Services, is accountable for the management of the non-traded market risk for CBA, including interest rate, foreign exchange, funding and liquidity risks associated with the Group’s lending and deposit taking business and the investment of shareholders’ funds. Group Treasury’s remit also incorporates capital optimization, as well as the assessment and monitoring of the Group’s overall balance sheet performance. It owns and executes a liability and funding strategy consistent with an objective of balance sheet optimization while adhering to the regulatory requirements.

Treasury Business Change and Technology Team has the responsibility to prioritise work for the Treasury Crew and ensure that any change initiatives affecting Treasury are effectively delivered. This is achieved by embedding a strong prioritization, governance and structured framework to deliver sustainable business change and projects with strategic outcomes from a system and operating model perspective.

Do work that matters:
Reporting to the Crew Lead and as a Product Owner, you will provide Treasury SME knowledge to prioritise the squad’s backlog to achieve Treasury objectives and key results and that any change impact to Treasury is adequately managed through an appropriate project engagement and governance.

Build and prioritise the Squad’s backlog on a fortnightly, quarterly, and annual basis, balancing trade-offs and exploring strategies to successfully deliver on business and capital outcomes

Responsibilities

Work with our technology partners and project managers to ensure seamless delivery of the Treasury backlog

Ensure outcomes including scope, requirements, project deliverables, solution design, risks & issues for Group Treasury are effectively supported across the project lifecycle

Identify risks, dependencies and blockers for the squad

Accountable for addressing impediments, driving decisions and resolving escalations

Working with the chapter leads to ensure optimal allocation of work to your squad members as well as coordinating dependencies across squads

We’re interested in hearing from people who have

Demonstrated experience in risk/finance/treasury knowledge, understanding of the regulatory standards and delivery experience

Demonstrated experience in translating product vision to roadmap and backlog

Deep understanding of Treasury and broad understanding of business and technology, particularly in the finance and risk domains

Previous experience in working in a matrix structure, demonstrating the ability to balance product ownership with delivery capacity and priorities

Previous experience in working in Agile, using Jira and/or Confluence

Experience / exposure using SQL, Ab Initio or equivalent data software is preferable

A certificate in project manager, product ownership or scrum mastering

Strong communication and Business Partnering skills (including the ability to work across teams – Treasury Front Office, Product Control, Risk, Group Finance, Market Operations and Technology teams

Ability to challenge the status quo striving for optimal solution outcomes
