Job Description

We are seeking an enthusiastic, experienced, and organized Veterinary Receptionist to connect animal patients to veterinary care while providing exceptional service to their human companions. The Veterinary Receptionist is the often the first point of contact for clients of the Tartan Tails Hospital in Dartmouth, providing them with a friendly, welcoming, and informative experience every time the visit or call.

About us:

Tartan Tails Animal Hospital is locally owned, and proud to make veterinary medicine accessible to pet families. We are Atlantic Canada’s only social enterprise veterinary hospital. This means that our profits go to helping animals in SPCA shelters across Nova Scotia.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

Provides outstanding customer service, specifically in-person and via telephone, with some client communication via email.
Administrative tasks including data entry, filing, completing forms.
Communicates to the public the principles that convey and impart an understanding of the policies and procedures of the Nova Scotia SPCA and the Tartan Tails Veterinary Hospital.
Scheduling and coordination of appointments.
Client invoicing, receipt of payments, cash and transaction management.
Maintaining the cleanliness of the reception area.
Hospital assistance tasks including intake, exam room assistance, admission and discharge paperwork, and supply inventory management.
Other tasks and duties as required.
Experience and Skills

Proven experience in a similar client services/clinic reception role.
Medical or veterinary hospital work experience would be considered an asset.
Animal handling experience would be considered an asset.
Experience with cash and transaction management.
High attention to detail.
Organizational and time management skills are necessary for this position.
Strong familiarity with Office365 platform, including Excel and Outlook.
Physical Requirements:

Physical ability to walk and/or stand on your feet throughout a normal workday required.
Physical ability to lift and carry 40 pounds regularly.
Working conditions include working alone, frequent interruptions, and some meetings.
