Database Engineer

Job Description

We seek an experienced Database Performance Optimization Engineer to tackle performance issues in our AWS RDS environment, primarily MySQL. You will analyze and optimize database queries, manage connection limits, and improve overall database configurations for smooth operation under high load and concurrency.

Your expertise is critical in diagnosing performance bottlenecks, implementing efficient indexing and caching strategies, and designing solutions to handle concurrent requests through effective queuing mechanisms.
Key Responsibilities:
• Query & Index Optimization: Optimize SQL queries and indexing strategies for fast data retrieval, especially as load increases.
• Configuration Analysis: Evaluate and adjust database configuration settings, connection limits, and caching implementations to prevent performance degradation.
• Load Testing & Bottleneck Identification: Conduct load tests, identify failure points when the database reaches peak loads, and propose actionable improvements.
• Collaborative Problem-Solving: Work closely with DevOps and development teams to understand current challenges and implement best practices.
• Multi-Database Experience: Utilize your knowledge of additional databases (e.g., OpenSearch, Firebase, Firestore, PostgreSQL) to support a diverse database environment.
Qualifications:
• Proven experience with MySQL and AWS RDS (or similar relational database services) in high-load scenarios.
• Strong understanding of query performance, indexing, and connection pooling techniques.
• Hands-on experience with load testing and performance tuning.
• Ability to diagnose and resolve complex database configuration issues.
• Excellent analytical skills and effective communication with cross-functional teams.
