Job Description

Qualifications:
Essential:

Experience performing clerical or administrative support duties within a legal or related environment including data entry, file management, and working with various types of legal documents.
Leadership experience such as, assessing and assigning workloads, providing training, direction and performance management (only required for Unit Leader position)
Ability to maintain accuracy and pay attention to detail
Excellent verbal communication skills
Ability to work in a team environment
Organization and time management skills with the ability to prioritize individual workloads to adjust to varying demands
Ability to work effectively under minimal supervision and make independent decisions using sound judgement
Ability to manage confidential and sensitive information
Ability to successful liaise with various justice system stakeholders, including the judiciary, legal profession, self-represented litigants, and the public
Experience with Microsoft Office including Word, Excel and Outlook


Desired:

Experience or working knowledge of the court system, procedures and processes relating to the Court of King’s Bench
Experience with the Registry System

Duties:
1. Unit Leader - The incumbent is the unit leader of the King's Bench File Room/Data Entry unit, responsible for the supervision of seven to ten. The incumbent is also responsible for providing staff extensive training and guidance on work procedures, delegating work assignments, ensuring deadlines are met, and may act as the contact person for key justice stakeholders. In addition to performing file/data clerk duties, the incumbent monitors daily attendance and vacation and/or personal leave schedules and evaluates staff performance.

2. Data & Administration Support - Reporting to the Manager, King’s Bench Registry, the King’s Bench Data and Administration Support clerk is responsible for monitoring specific email boxes and incoming calls from the judiciary, public, government departments, law firms and agencies. This position is responsible for managing a large volume of service requests from outside stakeholders and compiles and maintains tracking and statistical data. It is also responsible for reviewing an accused’s’ charges in the Provincial court computer system Criminal Court Automated Information Network (CCAIN) and interpreting Provincial Court Informations documents to open a file and enter data in King’s Bench Registry.
