Job Description

Job Summary

We are looking for detail-oriented and experienced Real Estate Accountants to join our finance team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for handling financial transactions, maintaining accurate accounting records, and ensuring compliance with real estate industry regulations. This role requires strong analytical skills, knowledge of real estate accounting principles, and proficiency in financial reporting.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Financial Accounting & Reporting

Prepare and maintain financial statements for real estate holdings, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow reports.
Ensure timely and accurate month-end and year-end closing.
Perform bank reconciliations and manage general ledger accounts.
Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports for management and investors.
2. Property Accounting

Track and record property revenues and expenses, including rent payments, property taxes, and maintenance costs.
Process accounts payable (AP) and accounts receivable (AR) related to real estate transactions.
Reconcile tenant rental income, deposits, and lease obligations.
Monitor and manage escrow accounts, mortgage payments, and loan schedules.
3. Budgeting & Forecasting

Assist in developing and monitoring property budgets, including capital expenditure (CapEx) planning.
Conduct variance analysis on budgeted vs. actual financial performance.
Provide financial insights to support property acquisition, sales, and investment decisions.
4. Taxation & Compliance

Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal tax regulations related to real estate transactions.
Assist with property tax assessments and appeals.
Support audit preparation and external financial reviews.
5. Lease Accounting & Financial Analysis

Review and analyze lease agreements for proper accounting treatment.
Ensure compliance with lease accounting standards (ASC 842/IFRS 16).
Provide financial insights into lease negotiations and portfolio performance.
Qualifications & RequirementsEducation & Experience

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
CPA, CMA, or other professional accounting certification is a plus.
2+ years of experience in real estate accounting, property management accounting, or a related field.
Technical Skills

Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., Yardi, QuickBooks, MRI, AppFolio, Sage, or similar).
Strong knowledge of GAAP, IFRS, and real estate financial reporting standards.
Advanced Excel skills for financial analysis and reporting.
Soft Skills

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
Effective communication skills to collaborate with property managers, investors, and stakeholders.
This role sometimes involves working with Chinese-speaking clients.

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: $25.00-$40.00 per hour
