General Summary:

Reporting directly to the President, the Controller will be an integral part of the leadership team and is responsible for the full cycle accounting of the organization. While leading a team of two, you will be looked upon to motivate, inspire and delegate appropriately.

Main Job Tasks and Responsibilities:

Ensure that all company financial reporting is timely, relevant, and accurate as required by law, financial institutions and governmental reporting functions.
Provide full cycle day-to-day accounting functions and leadership to the Accounting team
Manage and oversee all Banking, AP, AR, Payroll, Sales Taxes, Fixed Assets, and General Accounting functions
Timely and accurate preparation of month end and year end financial statements, and bank covenant reporting requirements with analysis
Maintain relations with the Bank while managing the operations financing, imports financing, foreign currency management, and special financing decisions
Prepare and manage annual budgets, (using financial modeling), collaborate with management team, compare budgets to actuals on monthly basis, provide analytics & feedback to the President for accurate and timely decision making
Support all departments with the flow of accounting and administrative data
Assist HR with employee benefit programs and provide guidance where necessary
Monitor and review monthly receivables for accuracy and timely collections
Ensure appropriate ERP systems users and internal controls are implemented and maintained
Develop and document business processes, accounting policies, and procedures to strengthen internal controls and manage risk
Hiring, training, and mentoring of accounting staff as required
Coordinate with the external accountants on the timing of their review to conform with financial and taxation deadlines. Prepare as completely as possible files for the external accountants for use in annual reviews and if required audits. Annual review preparation for both Canadian and the US companies
Review and manage the Insurance polices at renewal to make sure they meet the Canadian and US business need
In a relatively short period of time gain an in-depth understanding of the fishing and fish processing industry to provide appropriate reporting and support to industry vendors and customers.

The Ideal Candidate:

CPA designation in good standing
a minimum of 3 years’ experience as a Controller or senior financial management role
Proficient in the use of Microsoft products, specifically Excel. Working knowledge of Business intelligence and reporting tools
Current experience with Great Plains/Dynamics or a major ERP system
Working knowledge of either ADP, PayWorks, or Ceridian
Advanced analytical, interpersonal, and communication skills
Strong Managerial and Leadership skills
Experience reporting for US entity
Excellent understanding of financial management, Accounting Standards for Private Enterprises (ASPE) and internal controls
Exceptional time management and organizational skills
Willingness to roll your sleeves up and have an all hands-on desk when required attitude
Strong Assets·

Manufacturing or food industry experience preferred
Demonstrated knowledge of US accounting and cross border issues considered an asset
Other Accountabilities:

Manage relationship with IT service provider
Oversee inventory systems, purchases, installations and regular maintenance of IT system and devices
Manage special projects as assigned.

Pay: $+5,000.00-$120,000.00 per year
