Journeyperson Mechanic - Automotive or Heavy Duty

Key Responsibilities

The Automotive or Heavy-Duty Technician is responsible for servicing/repairing SOUTHLAND school buses in a safe, efficient, and effective manner. This position is not confined to shop activities as the Automotive or Heavy-Duty Technician may be required to perform field work on down buses.

Ongoing maintenance/repair of buses
Diagnose equipment problems
CVIP Inspections
Respond to breakdowns
Spring and winter maintenance
Complete all documentation associated with equipment repairs
Work with shop management to maintain schedules and priorities
Follow SOUTHLAND procedures and guidelines
Requirements

Journeyperson Ticket (Automotive or Heavy Duty)
Must possess own tools for the job
Fluent in written and spoken English
2 – 5 years related experience
Valid Driver’s License
CVIP (Commercial Vehicle Inspection Program) License considered an asset
Exposure to working on diesel, propane, and gasoline engines
Experience with automatic transmissions
Analytical and troubleshooting skills
Strong diagnostic skills
Computer proficiency
Remuneration

$42.50 per hour
Bi-weekly pay period (every second Friday)
Employee Benefits Plan (after 3 month probation)
Group Registered Retirement Savings (RRSP) Plan (available after 12 months)
Annual Tool and Boot Allowance (pro-rated from start date - available in last quarter of the year, and each subsequent year)
Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: From $42.50 per hour

Expected hours: 40 per week
