Job Description

Dexter Construction, part of the Municipal group of Companies is a large, diversified Construction Company engaged in all major aspects of the heavy civil construction industry within the Atlantic Provinces. We are currently seeking the expertise of a Civil Engineering CAD Technician in the Operations Department based out of Bedford, NS.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
Prepare Civil 3D surfaces, alignments, profiles and plans for Civil construction projects.
Perform and analyze earthwork volumetric computations in Civil 3D.
Complete value engineering for civil construction projects including but not limited to earthwork and pipework analysis.
Develop plans and calculate material takeoffs in Civil 3D.
Analyze blueprints, specifications, and other documentation.
Aggressively seek out opportunities to provide support as a value-added member of the team.
Ensure CAD standards and procedures are followed for all drawings and calculations.
Work closely and collaborate with Operations and Estimating Teams.
Any other duties as required.

Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, Education, and Experience:

Minimum 2 years of experience with AutoCAD Civil 3D.
Experience in current civil construction methods.
Ability to interpret Geotechnical Reports.
Suitable candidates require previous experience or training in a CAD Technician role, ideally from a survey/land development/construction background.
Post-secondary education at the University or College level with a concentration in surveying/civil engineering is preferred.
Experience with MS Office Suite would be an asset.
Ability to work independently with little supervision, as well as in a team environment.
Must have a valid drivers’ license.
