Job Description

We are currently seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Accountant to join our Business Office. Reporting to the Accounting Manager, this position plays a key role in supporting the day-to-day financial operations of the College and contributing to long-term fiscal responsibility across departments.
Key Responsibilities
Assists in the preparation of monthly/year-end financial statements and working papers, including reconciliations and variance analysis.
Assist in preparation of projections, forecasts and required working papers.
Assists with the annual budgeting process as required.
Acts as a customer service hub to educate and support the education of budget authorities with support from the accounting manager
Review monthly reconciliations to ensure accuracy and integrity of financial data.
Assists in preparation of annual budget and required working papers.
Act as backup and may assist with the processing of payables and receivables
Act as a back-up for processing of weekly cheque run as required
Support accounting, preparation of working papers, journal entry and monthly analysis related to Campus Store operations
Make journal entries as part of regular monthly, quarterly and year end workflows
Prepare tax, GST, HST, PST, returns, as required
Communicate with clients to identify issues
Support preparation of annual child care receipts and prepare/manage process of completing T2202As
Complete bank and other account reconciliations
Develop comprehensive understanding of student billing process and provide ad hoc support to the Student Billing officer, Business office clerk and other members of the team as it relates to parent inquiries and customer service
Work with the Manager of Summer Camps / Facility rentals in terms of payment reconciliations, prepaid deposits and development of fulsome budgets
Work with accounting software and provide support to budget all budget managers
Generate financial reports, most specifically, monthly Management Accountability reports (MARs) and share with approved budget authorities
In conjunction with the accounting manager, manage and update annual budget authority listing
Update and maintain digital forms such as expense reimbursements
Complete other accounting related duties, as required
Qualifications & Attributes
University degree in business administration or accounting or equivalent college diploma with post graduate professional accounting courses leading to a professional accounting designation.
Currently pursuing a professional accounting designation or recent completion of CPA
Minimum two years of accounting experience; experience in a not-for-profit or school setting considered an asset
Strong knowledge of financial accounting, budgeting, and reconciliation practices
Proficiency in accounting software and systems (experience with Financial Edge or similar systems is an asset)
Advanced Microsoft Excel skills and solid knowledge of other MS Office programs
Excellent attention to detail, accuracy, and time management skills
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Collaborative, proactive, and able to work independently in a fast-paced environment
