Work Environment & Hours:

Part-time, independent contractor
Estimated at 60 hours per month
Flexible schedule with some availability during core business hours

Are you a skilled accountant looking to make a meaningful difference? Since 1+85, Progressive Alternatives Society of Calgary (PASC), a non-profit organization, has been supporting adults with developmental disabilities in the pursuit of competitive employment and meaningful community roles.

Position Overview:
We are seeking an experienced, detail-oriented accountant to support our finance and administrative functions. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a dynamic environment and is comfortable working both independently and collaboratively. The successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring accurate financial reporting and supporting operational excellence.

What You'll Do:

Provide strategic financial guidance and decision-making support to our leadership team
Manage complete monthly accounting cycle including A/P, A/R, payroll, group benefits administration and financial reporting
Prepare quarterly board reports, annual budgets and coordinate year-end audit and reporting
Oversee government funding contracts and compliance requirements
What You'll Bring:

Accounting designation (CPA preferred) or equivalent experience
3+ years of accounting experience, preferably including non-profit sector experience
Sound knowledge of accounting software, particularly Sage and Excel
Experience with government funding, gaming accounts, and charity regulations
Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail
Strong interpersonal skills for effective collaboration with leadership
