Experienced Paralegal - Court & Legal Strategy

Job Description:
We are seeking a Licensed Paralegal in Ontario with a minimum of 3 years’ experience in small claims or traffic court work. This is a full-time, 3-month contract position with the potential for extension based on performance and business needs.

Key Responsibilities:

Handle a variety of matters in small claims court and traffic court
Draft legal documents including pleadings, motions, and submissions
Attend court appearances and settlement conferences (in person or remotely)
Liaise with clients, court staff, and opposing parties
Manage files independently from intake through to resolution
Develop and execute creative legal strategies to overcome challenges and achieve client goals
Required Qualifications:

Licensed and in good standing with the Law Society of Ontario (LSO)
Minimum 3 years of relevant experience in small claims or traffic court
Strong working knowledge of the Rules of the Small Claims Court and Provincial Offences Act
Excellent written and oral communication skills
Ability to think outside the box and solve problems creatively
Strong time management skills and the ability to work independently

Tech-savvy and comfortable with virtual court appearances
Prior experience working in a small or solo practice setting
Detail-oriented with a proactive attitude
Compensation:
Competitive and commensurate with experience. Please indicate your expected hourly or monthly rate in your application.
