Job Opportunity: Part-Time Farm Helper for Small Hobby Farm

Are you comfortable around animals and looking for a rewarding part-time role in a farm environment? We are seeking a responsible and reliable individual to help care for our small hobby farm, primarily on weekends and during holidays. If you’re experienced with horses, cats, and sometimes chickens, and enjoy a hands-on, outdoor role, this may be a great fit for you!

Position Overview

We need assistance with the care and feeding of 2 horses, 3 barn cats, and fish in a pond. Duties include daily care on weekends, occasional long weekends, and holiday coverage. Additionally, coverage is needed during our vacations, typically about four times a year, for periods of 4-12 days. Basic training for the role will be provided.

Primary Responsibilities

Feed and care for 3 horses, 3 barn cats, and pond fish twice daily (AM and PM).
Clean stalls, sweep, and maintain barn areas.
Handle basic animal care duties, such as feeding, mucking stalls, and leading horses.
Perform tasks such as lifting water buckets, handling manure bins, and using farm tools like muck forks, shovels, and brooms.
Schedule

Typical Weekend & Holiday Hours:
Friday PM: 1 hour
Saturday AM: 2-3 hours
Saturday PM: 1 hour
Sunday AM: 2-3 hours
Sunday PM: 1 hour
Monday AM: 2-3 hours
Vacation Coverage: Approximately 4-12 days, 4 times per year (same AM and PM schedule)
Requirements

Experience: Prior experience handling horses and basic animal care skills.
Physical Ability: Must be able to lift water buckets, push wheelbarrows, and lead horses.
Animal Knowledge: Basic understanding of horse health, such as recognizing normal eating and drinking behaviors and performing simple health checks.
Reliable Transportation: Must have your own means of transport.
Skills: Strong time management, proficiency in using farm tools, and an ability to recognize and report potential health issues in animals.
Why This Role?

This part-time position can fit well around other commitments or jobs. It offers an opportunity to work closely with animals, enjoy the farm atmosphere, and gain experience in animal care.

If you’re passionate about animals and meet the above qualifications, we’d love to hear from you.
