3D Designer – Digital Twin & Product Visualization

Red Deer or Remote

About Us:

Tornado Infrastructure Equipment (North America) Inc. is a leading manufacturer of hydrovac trucks and infrastructure equipment. Through customer-centric design and engineering precision, we innovate industry. We’re currently expanding our creative team and are looking for a skilled 3D Designer to help us visualize, develop, and present our industry-leading products.

Position Summary:

We are seeking a detail-oriented and technically proficient 3D Designer with a strong background in product rendering, material development, and the creation of digital twins based off of CAD assets. This role will support both engineering and marketing initiatives through the development of high-quality, realistic visual assets used across product launches, marketing materials, websites, and presentations.

Key Responsibilities:

Develop high-fidelity 3D product assets and digital twins from engineering CAD files (e.g., STEP).
Apply PBR(Physically-Based Rendering) workflow principles to create realistic materials and textures.
Create clean UVs, optimized topology, high-quality textures, and well-organized scene files suitable for both real-time and offline rendering pipelines.
Collaborate with creative teams to support look development and generate stunning marketing visuals (still renders and animations) for use online and in traditional marketing channels.
Work with brand and marketing managers to maintain visual consistency across all product imagery.
Troubleshoot rendering and material issues and iterate based on feedback.
Maintain a library of reusable 3D assets and templates for marketing use.
Manage 3D products, scenes and support assets by meticulously maintaining the asset repository.
Establish, document and refine workflows that reduce risk of version control issues and optimize production pipelines.
Utilize project management platforms within Microsoft 365 to define, track and implement project deliverables across a team of contract designers.
Assist in sourcing contract resources on an ad-hoc basis to meet project outcomes
Research, analyse and report back on evolving design trend and technology to achieve industry leading outcomes.
Qualifications:

3+ years of experience in 3D design, visualization, or a related role.
Proficient in tools such as Blender, 3DS Max, Unreal Engine, Maya, or Cinema 4D.
Experience with Substance Painter/Designer, Adobe Creative Cloud, is an asset.
Demonstrated experience with PBR workflow and understanding of physically based lighting, materials, and shading.
Skilled in importing and converting CAD data into usable 3D geometry for visualization purposes.
Experience in creating marketing-focused renders and animations is highly valued.
Strong portfolio showcasing industrial or product design work is required.
Ability to work independently, manage time efficiently, and meet deadlines.
Preferred Skills (Nice to Have):

Experience with animation and motion graphics.
Experience in AR/VR asset development.
Familiarity with web-based use of 3D assets.
