Job Description

Role Overview:
The Youth Development Coordinator for Volunteers is responsible for recruiting, supporting and connecting with Luther Court Society’s youth volunteers to develop meaningful engagement opportunities as part of the Society’s intergenerational programming.

Luther Court’s volunteer program is designed to develop and strengthen meaningful connections that help enhance the quality of life for older adults who benefit from the onsite long-term care, adult day care and assisted-living programs. The majority of Luther Court residents are seniors who are coping with disabilities like limited mobility and cognitive impairment. Luther Court leverages its partnerships with nearby local community organizations and schools to expand our collective impact.

The Youth Development Coordinator collaborates with youth volunteers and staff to develop capacity to support youth volunteers including students from nearby middle and high schools in the Saanich/Gordon Head/Oak Bay region of Greater Victoria.

Primary Responsibilities:

Coordinate and communicate with youth volunteers
Maintain a system of engaging and recruiting youth volunteers by aligning intergenerational volunteer assignments with the needs of Luther Court’s older adult residents
Track and plan youth volunteer activities and hours utilizing the Better Impact software
Ensure each youth volunteer is registered and has submitted the applicable documentation
Provide orientation, onboarding and offboarding to each youth volunteer-Assess core training needs of youth volunteer roles: developing and implementing training material as necessary
Plan and implement youth volunteer recognition opportunities and events
Provide youth volunteers with supervision, feedback, and appreciation
Liaise with community partners to recruit new youth volunteers
Develop meaningful volunteer programming
Liaise with staff and older adults residing at Luther Court to explore new programming opportunities
Explore opportunities to engage youth volunteers throughout the year (ie. creation of a youth advisory committee)

Wage: $1+ hourly • 35 hours per work week for a total of 280 hours.
