Full job description
Summary:
Rosen Hotels & Resorts® is seeking a vigilant and customer-focused Lifeguard to join our team at the Rosen Aquatic Center. Under the supervision of the Aquatics Manager or Aquatics Coordinator, the Lifeguard is responsible for ensuring safe swimming conditions, providing excellent customer service, and maintaining a secure and positive environment in the pool, deck, and surrounding areas. This role is crucial in promoting member safety and engagement by adhering to all Rosen Aquatic Center policies and procedures.


Responsibilities:


Maintain constant surveillance of the pool area using effective scanning techniques to ensure a 10x10 reaction time, addressing any redirection and warnings promptly.
Stay alert and attentive to all swimmers, ensuring their safety while on guard.
Understand and consistently apply all safety rules, policies, and guidelines related to the pool and aquatic areas.
Respond immediately to emergency situations in accordance with established emergency procedures.
Assist in the retention of existing members and the engagement of new members by informing them about the aquatic programs available, including lap swimming, swim lessons, swim teams, and group exercise classes.
Ensure the cleanliness and safety of the pool deck and surrounding aquatic areas, regularly checking for hazardous conditions.
Perform regular equipment checks and ensure all necessary equipment is available and in good working condition.
Conduct chemical testing of the pool water at required intervals and take appropriate actions based on the results.
Attend all staff meetings, monthly in-service sessions, and required training programs to stay updated on safety procedures and protocols.
All other duties as assigned.
Experience/Qualifications:


Strong observational skills and the ability to remain focused and attentive for extended periods.
Ability to respond quickly and effectively in emergency situations.
Knowledge of pool safety rules, guidelines, and emergency procedures.
Physical stamina to perform duties, including lifting and assisting swimmers, as well as standing or sitting for long periods.
Must be able to legally work in the USA.
Education and Certification(s)/License(s):


High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
Preferred Certifications:
Current Lifeguard Certification from a recognized organization such as the American Red Cross or YMCA.
CPR/AED certification
First Aid certification
