As a Cemeteries Salesperson, you will provide professional and compassionate cemetery sales and services to grieving families by assessing their needs and assisting them with purchasing a variety of products and services from the cemeteries customer service centre. You will also handle sales and services to at-need and advance planning clients. Primary duties include:
Assist families with selecting and purchasing mausoleum crypts, niches, burial plots, and memorialisation products.
Collect payments for cemetery products and services.
Answer telephone and e-mail inquiries about the various products and services offered by City cemeteries.
Complete, issue, and process cemetery contracts.
Schedule client appointments.
Respond to related inquiries from the public regarding provincial legislation, municipal by-laws, and cemetery regulations.
Act as liaison with funeral homes and cemetery user groups.
Travel within the Calgary area to collect information from clients and funeral homes.
Through public presentation, provide the community with information about the cemetery and options within the cemetery.


Qualifications
A completed 2 year diploma in Funeral Services or a related field combined with at least 2 years of experience in the cemetery/funeral services industry.
Must be eligible to obtain licensing with the Alberta Funeral Services Regulatory Board.
Applicants must have knowledge of the services and products available in the funeral/cemetery business.
Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word is required.
You have strong customer service and communication skills; exemplify professionalism and compassion during a time of loss, and have a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
Excellent problem solving and decision making skills, strong interpersonal and teamwork skills, and the ability to act with honesty, integrity and personal ethics.

Business Unit: Parks & Open Spaces

Position Type: 1 Temporary (up to 22 months)
Location: 321+ 4 Street NW

Compensation: Pay Grade 8 $37.77 - 50.50 per hour
Days of Work: This position typically works a 5 day
work week, with 1 day off in each 3 week cycle.

Hours of work: Standard 35 hour work week
