Your Opportunity:
Alberta Health Services-Cancer Care Alberta is responsible for cancer treatment and research for the province of Alberta. The Department of Cancer Epidemiology and Prevention Research (CEPR) is seeking a casual/hourly Research Associate based in Calgary, Alberta, Canada. The position will work with Dr. Lin Yang, a CEPR Research Scientist, on their research studies. Current research is focused on understanding the causes and progression of cancer, developing interventions targeted at modifiable lifestyle factors, accelerating implementation of research findings at a population level and enhancing knowledge translation through the development of clinical and population health guidelines. The Research Associate will work within an established research support team that currently includes several MSc-trained epidemiologists and statisticians, database managers and data support specialists, systems analyst, grant administrators and research assistants.
Description:
The Research Associate will have specific individual responsibilities actively supporting the Dr. Yang’s research program by providing support to activities related to obtaining and conducting external peer-reviewed epidemiologic research studies. Independent judgment and expertise will be essential in performing the job duties that include: Assisting in the writing and preparation of grant applications and manuscripts for publication. Assisting in the design of research studies including data collection methods. Performing literature reviews as required. Preparing presentations for scientific conferences. Preparing written summaries of data analyses including figures, tables, as needed for scientific papers. As part of ongoing development, the Research Associate will also have access to weekly and monthly seminars, research forums, journal clubs, invited speakers and visiting scholars and will have the opportunity for further education and training in epidemiology as needed.
