Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced Microsoft SQL Server database administrator to join our team at siro. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in production support, with expertise in delivering, supporting, and maintaining high-availability and high-performance environments.
Main Responsibilities:
• Database Administration: Provide expert-level support for Microsoft SQL Server databases in production, including installation, configuration, monitoring, upgrades, patching, troubleshooting, root cause analysis, and performance tuning.
• Proactive Monitoring: Proactively monitor database performance and other issues, analyzing and resolving them before they impact the business.
• Upgrades and Migrations: Perform SQL Server upgrades and database migrations, ensuring seamless transitions and minimal disruption to users.
• Cloud Experience: Have experience with MSSQL Database administration on both AWS and Azure clouds, as well as provisioning and supporting Azure SQL and AWS RDS (SQL Server and PostgreSQL).
• Azure and AWS Expertise: Utilize AWS CloudWatch, Azure Monitor, and other monitoring tools to ensure database health, performance, and automate scaling and notifications.
• Cost Management: Oversee database cost management, ensuring cost-effective use of resources and optimizing cloud spending.
Requirements:
• Education: Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Computer Science or a related field.
• Experience: 7-10+ years of proven experience in MSSQL database and PostgreSQL administration across on-premises, AWS, and Azure cloud environments.
• Additional Skills: AWS DMS configuration and support, automation using PowerShell/T-SQL, experience with CI/CD pipelines, integrating databases in DevOps workflows, ITIL process knowledge, and cloud optimization and performance tuning.
Working Conditions:
The position requires some weekend/after-hour support for rotation on-call support, quarterly patching, and any P1 incidents.
