School Nurse

Overview:

As an AssistHealth School Health Nurse, you will play a crucial role in promoting and protecting the health of students within School. You will provide essential healthcare services, health education, and preventive care to ensure a safe and healthy school environment conducive to learning.

Responsibilities:

Health Assessments and Screening:

Conduct health assessments for students including vision, hearing, and other screenings as required.

Monitor and track student health records, immunizations, and medical conditions.

First Aid and Emergency Response:

Respond to medical emergencies and provide first aid as needed.

Collaborate with school staff to develop and implement emergency response plans.

Health Promotion and Education:

Educate students, families, and staff on health-related topics such as nutrition, hygiene, and mental health.

Develop and implement health promotion programs and activities.

Chronic Disease Management:

Manage and support students with chronic health conditions.

Develop individualised healthcare plans (IHPs) and collaborate with healthcare providers and families.

Medication Administration:

Administer medications to students as per school policies and physician instructions.

Maintain accurate medication records and ensure compliance with state regulations.

Collaboration and Referrals:

Collaborate with teachers, counsellors, and administrators to support student health and well-being.

Refer students and families to community resources and healthcare providers as needed.

Documentation and Reporting:

Maintain accurate and confidential health records for all students.

Prepare reports and documentation related to health services and activities.

Qualifications:

B.Sc Nursing / GNM

Should have Valid Nursing registration

Previous experience in paediatric or school nursing preferred.

Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

Good Command over English Language.

Knowledge of health education principles and practices.

Ability to work collaboratively with school staff, families, and community partners.
