WEEKEND CASUAL PART-TIME BAR WORK NOW AVAILABLE

This role is available now. This will not suit a person who likes to be bar-hopping around town with friends at weekends!

The city's most talked-about Karaoke venue is getting busier, and we need additional weekend bar-staff for Friday and Saturday night shifts 8:00 pm till 5:00 am

16 to 18 hours each weekend @ $26.00 to $28.00/hr (starting rate) plus holiday pay. Tips on top of that are your own business, and depend entirely on how well you do the job

As the venue develops over time there is a possibility of this position developing into regular or full-time hours, but we will always need part-time staff. If it is only the weekend hours mentioned that are attractive then that would not necessarily have to change

This position involves serving alcohol so of course you must be AT LEAST 18 YEARS OLD. We are only a very small team and the downstairs bar servery in which you would be working is a one person operation for much of the time. (There are other staff performing other roles, apart from the bar). You also need to be eager and capable of getting to grips with the sound and lighting systems to provide assistance to our karaoke host and also preparing snack food

None of these duties require experience although at least being familiar with the customer side of a bar would help. It's not rocket science selling drinks and cleaning and re-stocking a bar at end of each night, so if you can persuade us that your enthusiasm outweighs your lack of experience then we should talk

We won't throw you in the deep-end as long as you are enthusiastic and a fast learner, but you don't get wrapped in cotton-wool, either!

We don't close till late (at least 4:30am). The late hours can destroy your weekend social life, but imagine the fun to be had watching our customers from a 100% sober perspective. Be a central part of the party but get paid for it!

Previous cash-handling skills are a big advantage, and of course honesty and reliability are essentials HOWEVER communication skills, both spoken and written, are crucial. You will need to be able to communicate effectively with our customers in a noisy, dimly-lit and high pressure environment. The right information has to be comprehended and communicated, first time, every time

Your own transport is desirable. It's the safest way to get home at 5am

This is not a career for life, but we like to think you will be around for at least 6 months - if you are in NZ as a tourist or student and going to be in Christchurch for at least that period of time then we should talk

No uniform provided, nor required; however we expect staff to dress like they understand that Club-Arcadia is a fun and diverse party bar, which leaves the possibilities quite wide open
