Position: Adult School Instructor
August 25, 2026 to June 26, 2026
Wage: Negotiable and is dependent on experience
Seasonal School Year position
Deadline for Application package: June 30, 2026
Start Date: August 25, 2026

Mandatory Criminal Record Check: GES has a form for the successful applicant to complete.
QUALIFICATIONS:
The successful candidate must hold a valid BC Teaching Certificate in good standing and possess an array of professional development certificates. Valid BC Drivers License.
Related Experience:
Promote high expectations and academic achievement for all students in a safe and nurturing environment
Recent successful Adult Education Teaching experience; grades 10-12; Adult dogwood
Employment readiness
Ability to incorporate innovative ideas and creativity in the classroom
Differentiates curriculum expectations and teaching strategies to meet the needs of all students
Ability to engage students in a positive learning environment.
Manage student behaviour in the classroom incorporating school-wide rules and discipline policy
Experience and ability to infuse the Gitxsan culture / language into the curriculum is an asset
Experience and knowledge
Be a team player and work with all staff in a positive manner and provide support as needed
Exceptional inter-personal skills and particularly those related to parent/community involvement
Some proposal writing, reporting, and coordinating for the Adult school programs
Work with the COOP and Education Coordinator to set up adult education programs, culture programs, and training programs for the students and community
Assist all students with online academic courses
Knowledge of the DRUMS program
Knowledge of English First Peoples 10-12, BC First Peoples 12 and Connected Classrooms an asset.
Knowledge to set up supports and assessments for Special Needs Students, ability and knowledge to complete IEPs
Coordinating training and cultural workshops for students, put on by Adult Instructor
Knowledge of Gitsenimx or willing to learn
We are focused on the growth of our programming in our school so that our young adults who have not graduated, in the community, can complete the Adult Dogwood and to continue on into post-secondary education to become confident, self-reliant, and knowledgeable Gitxsan people who will excel in two worlds.
