Description of Work Unit
The Department of Clinical Sciences mission is to assure the health and productivity of animals to meet societal needs through high quality educational programs for professional veterinary medical students, graduate veterinarians, and the public through a faculty and veterinary medical center of excellence, and to advance and disseminate comparative biomedical knowledge in an environment of interdisciplinary collaboration.

Position Summary
This position will support ongoing research efforts related to HPAI and BLV by assisting with both field and laboratory tasks. Responsibilities will involve working collaboratively with faculty, staff, and farm personnel to ensure accurate sample collection and processing. The incumbent will also contribute to data integrity and analysis as part of a larger research team.
Key responsibilities include:
Preparing and processing collected specimens in the lab, including aliquoting and transferring samples into appropriate containers for downstream analysis.
Maintaining accurate records of all collected and processed specimens.
Conducting data validation to ensure completeness and accuracy of research data.
Performing basic statistical analyses to summarize findings and support ongoing research.
Assisting with additional research tasks as needed, including preparing reports, managing data files, and contributing to team meetings.

Position Minimum Qualifications
DVM degree
Previous laboratory experience


Preferred Qualifications
Familiarity with basic data management tools (e.g. Microsoft Excel, statistical software).
Experience with on-farm sample collection procedures.
Interest in infectious disease research, especially HPAI and BLV.
Strong attention to detail and accurate record-keeping skills.
Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative research team.
