About the role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Data Engineer to join our Data and Insights team. This role is critical in the ongoing administration, enhancement, and optimisation of our enterprise data platforms. People First Bank (PFB) currently operates on-premise data warehouses and is progressively building a modern Data and Insights capability.

Key Responsibilities:

Liaise with business departments to evaluate and determine data needs and requirements. Apply technical and analytical skills to solutions to improve PFB reporting, advanced analytics, and data insights.
Work with Business Intelligence Analysts, Data Base Administrators, Business Analysts, IT and other key stakeholders to, maintain, organise and improve data warehouse solutions. Assist in the development of future business intelligence strategy and data governance decisions for PFB.
Maintain effective commercial relationships with external service providers to deliver optimal data management and reporting outcomes for the business.
Engineer & model curated Data Warehouse solutions to support BI objectives and timeframes in relation to the development of key analytics and metrics
Partner with technical teams to build maturity and capability in relation to implementing data capture, ETL, validation, and test methods
Participate in an on-call support roster to help monitor, maintain, and troubleshoot the Data and Insights platform, ensuring high availability and reliability of critical data services.
Maintain and assist in data model documentation, data dictionary, data flow, data mapping and other MDM and Data Governance documentation
About you

You are the go-to experts in crafting, implementing, and sustaining resilient data processing pipelines. Your role is pivotal in guaranteeing the effectiveness, precision, and scalability of our data infrastructure, impacting not only the Data and Insights team but also extending across the entire organization.

Knowledge and Experience:

Extensive experience in a similar role within a complex data environment.
Strong hands-on experience with ETL tools, preferably SSIS and WhereScape.
Advanced SQL skills, including the ability to write complex queries using sub-queries, nested queries, and other advanced SQL techniques.
Proficient in the Microsoft BI stack, including SSAS, SSRS, and SSIS, with additional exposure to Power BI for reporting and dashboarding.
Experience with CDC (Change Data Capture) tools, specifically Precisely, for real-time and incremental data movement.
Experience working with Azure DevOps, including Git repositories and Azure Pipelines; familiarity with PowerShell scripting and Power BI deployment.
Solid understanding of enterprise data warehouse (EDW) methodologies, including data analysis, data modelling, data integration, and data warehouse design.
