Centennial Infant and Child Centre (CICC) is an inclusive preschool serving children aged 18 months to 4 years with diverse abilities and special needs. Our integrated therapeutic program brings together skilled educators and consulting therapists to nurture each child’s development in a supportive, welcoming environment.

Your Role
As a RECE at CICC, you will help create a warm, inclusive classroom where every child is supported to thrive. Working collaboratively with families and a multidisciplinary team, including Occupational Therapists, Physiotherapists, Speech-Language Pathologists, and Communicative Disorders Assistants, you will design and implement learning experiences tailored to each child’s strengths and goals.
Key Responsibilities
Inclusive Programming
Plan and deliver developmentally appropriate, inclusive programming for children aged 18 months to 4 years, guided by How Does Learning Happen?
Create and update Individual Program Plans (IPPs) in collaboration with families and the multidisciplinary team.
Facilitate play-based learning experiences that align with each child's IPP goals.
Assessment & Documentation
Manage a caseload of up to 16 children.
Track developmental progress and prepare two formal reports per school year: mid-year IPP updates and a year-end summary.
· Maintain clear, accurate, and timely documentation and communication with families via the Lillio app and email, including daily logs, weekly updates, and monthly calendars.
Family & Team Collaboration
Build trusting, respectful relationships with families and maintain open communication.
Collaborate with educators and consulting therapists to support each child’s individual needs.
Coordinate transitions to school and community programs in partnership with families, school boards, and external agencies.
Leadership & Mentorship
Supervise and mentor classroom volunteers and post-secondary placement students.
Provide ongoing coaching and complete written evaluations in collaboration with academic institutions.
Work alongside Path Forward Classroom Assistants (PFCAs)—adults with disabilities who are valued members of the classroom team.
Compliance & Professional Practice
Ensure full compliance with the Child Care and Early Years Act (CCEYA), Toronto Public Health (TPH) requirements, and Assessment for Quality Improvement (AQI) standards.
Participate actively in team meetings, reflective practice, and ongoing professional development.
Meet the physical demands of the role, including lifting (up to 50 lbs.), floor play, stair climbing, and active classroom participation.
Qualifications
Registered and in good standing with the College of Early Childhood Educators (CECE)
Diploma or degree in Early Childhood Education; additional training in Resource Consulting, Special Education, or Infant Development is a strong asset
Minimum 2 years of experience working with children with special needs in inclusive settings
Familiarity with How Does Learning Happen? framework, CCEYA, Toronto Public Health regulations and AQI standards.
Proven ability to write clear, strengths-based IPPs, progress reports, and professional, family-friendly communication
Skilled in building respectful relationships with families, colleagues, and multidisciplinary team members
Experience supervising, coaching, and evaluating volunteers, adult learners, and placement students
Reflective, responsive, and committed to honouring each child’s individuality.
Able to meet the demands of an active classroom, including lifting to 50 lbs and active engagement throughout the day.
Comfortable using Microsoft Office and digital documentation tools.
Certifications (Required):
o Standard First Aid & CPR-C
o Vulnerable Sector Screening
o Up-to-date immunization record, including TB test.
Position Details
· School Year: September to June (10 months of work; salary paid over 12 months)
· Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:30 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.
· Annual Salary: $44,+55.00 (inclusive of the Provincial Wage Enhancement [PWE] grant; paid over 12 months)
