Job Title: Accessioning Technician – Pathology Lab
Department: Laboratory Operations
Location: Thane, Mumbai
Reports To: Lab Manager / Pathologist

Job Summary:

The Accessioning Technician plays a critical front-line role in the pathology laboratory. This position involves receiving and registering patient samples, collecting specimens, managing accurate data entry, and processing payments. The technician ensures each sample is properly labeled, documented, and handed over to the appropriate department for testing, maintaining the highest standard of patient care, confidentiality, and accuracy.

Key Responsibilities:

Patient Registration & Documentation:
Register patients in the Laboratory Information System (LIS) or manually, ensuring accurate entry of demographic and clinical details.
Verify and update patient records as needed, ensuring confidentiality and data integrity.
Sample Accessioning:
Receive, label, and accession specimens received at the lab, ensuring proper identification and traceability.
Maintain the chain of custody for all incoming samples.
Ensure all samples meet quality criteria before forwarding them for analysis.
Sample Collection:
Collect biological samples (e.g., blood, urine, swabs) from walk-in patients as required.
Follow proper safety and hygiene protocols during specimen collection.
Payment Handling:
Collect payments from patients for diagnostic tests and services.
Generate and issue receipts, and reconcile daily collections with the finance team.
Maintain a cash/payment register and report discrepancies, if any.
Coordination and Communication:
Coordinate with phlebotomists, lab technicians, and administrative staff for smooth workflow.
Assist patients with inquiries related to test instructions, billing, and sample collection procedures.
Quality Control and Compliance:
Ensure adherence to internal SOPs and regulatory requirements.
Maintain cleanliness and order at the sample reception and collection area.
Participate in periodic audits and training.
Job Type: Full-time

Pay: ₹18,000.00 - ₹22,000.00 per month
