About this Role:
The successful candidate will be responsible for safely operating, repairing, and maintaining commercial heavy equipment used in construction, transportation, and similar activities.
Job Description
As a Heavy Duty Mechanic, your primary responsibilities will include:
Diagnostics and repair of tandems and off-road equipment such as loaders and bobcats used in construction, transportation, and similar activities
Performing preventative maintenance tasks/repairs
Working collaboratively with the managers and drivers
Provide on-the-job training to new employees and guidance to apprentices (If required)
Troubleshoot and repair vehicles onsite and in maintenance shop environment, based on the nature of the repair
Maintain a safe, secure, and clean work area at all times
Physical Demands
This is moderately strenuous work.
The work environment is primarily indoors, in a maintenance shop environment; however, mechanics may be required to be outdoors when moving equipment, testing requirements, performing repairs on a job site, or roadside.
Be able to lift and move heavy objects (up to 50lbs)
Required Skills and Qualifications
To be successful in this role, you'll need:
Red Seal certification in heavy duty truck
Experience working on commercial trucks, truck-trailer, trailer system (preferred)
Off-road equipment maintenance, such as loaders and bobcats (preferred)
CVIP certification is an asset
Strong diagnostic and time-management skills
Previous experience and qualification in performing safety protocols
Ability to work independently and as a team
A valid AB Class 5 driver's license
