Job Description

Title: Multimedia Content Intern
Job Location: Christchurch, NZ
Our Department: Civil Construction, Caterpillar Trimble Control Technologies (CTCT)
The Opportunity:
We’re looking for a creative, motivated Multimedia Content Intern to join our team this summer. This role is a unique opportunity to combine storytelling, technology, cutting-edge software, and hands-on exploration of heavy earthmoving equipment.
You’ll support our user assistance and documentation initiatives by designing engaging multimedia content (including graphics, animations, and short videos) for a customer-facing portal and training courses. Your work will help operators and technicians better understand and get the most out of our grade control solutions. It will become the template for the team to build on in the future.
What You’ll Do
Create visually compelling content to support end-user documentation, including how-to videos, tutorials, UI animations, and short video explainers for a customer-facing portal
Collaborate with product managers, app specialists, technical writers, and UX designers to identify high-impact opportunities for visual content
Prototype and iterate on multimedia concepts to help users understand complex workflows
Capture and edit high-quality video content using professional lighting and sound techniques, including screen recordings and field footage
Explore and document real-world interactions with heavy machinery and grade control technology
Help with asset management, publishing workflows, and establishing multimedia best practices
Receive mentorship and coaching opportunities to strengthen skills in multimedia content creation and design
Skills & Experience You Should Bring
Current enrollment in a degree program in multimedia design, digital media, communications, UX design, instructional design, or related fields, preferably in your second or third year of studies
A portfolio or showreel that demonstrates storytelling through visual media (animations, videos, graphic design)
Proficiency with some or all of the following:
Adobe Creative Suite (Premiere Pro, After Effects, and Illustrator)
Maya or Blender for 3D content
Camtasia, Figma, and Lottie, or similar
Experience with high-quality video production, including lighting, sound capture, and post-editing
Passion for simplifying complex technology through clear and engaging content
Ability to work independently and take initiative in a fast-paced environment
Interest in construction technology or heavy equipment is a plus
What you’ll gain
Real-world experience shaping modern user assistance. You’ll help redefine how technical content is delivered through interactive media, animations, and visual storytelling
Opportunity to work with a cross-functional team of writers, designers, engineers, and operators to develop scalable content for global users
Insight into cutting-edge trends in digital documentation including lightweight animations (Lottie), embedded media, responsive help systems, and cloud-based delivery platforms
A rich portfolio of multimedia assets and examples that show your ability to simplify complex workflows through engaging, intuitive content
A foundational perspective on the evolving role of content design in software development
